From Holy Land to Chinaĺs Land

PUA The course, Dalla Terra Santa alla Terra di Cina: dalla predicazione alla missione dei Francescani will begin in Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 5:00 pm. The semester long course to be held in Italian is organized by the Scuola Superiore di Studi Medievali e Francescani of the Pontifical University Antonianum and the Commissio Sinica, recently instituted by the Order of Friars Minor under the patronage of the same University.

The lessons will be held weekly on Thursdays from 5.00 to 6:35 pm and they will be given by the professors:

Alberto Camplani, (March 20, 27 & March 6) will deal with the origins and initial development of the Syrian-Eastern Church; missionary expansion into India and China; Assyrian Church and Mongol power.

Sergio Ferdinandi, (March 13, 20 & 27) will deal with East and West and the crusades; Eastern Christianity: Francis’s crusade; The order of Friars Minor and the Crusades.

Michela Catto, (April 3, 22 & May 29) will deal with the Catholi Missions in the Modern Era and the Society of Jesus in Asia; the quaestio de ritibussinensibus: Chinese ritual translations according to Matteo Ricci S.J.; The Holy See: from the approval to the condemnation of the Chinese Rites. Superstition, Idolatry and Atheism.

Francesco D’Arelli, (April 10 & May 8 6 15) will deal with Asia and China with the arrival of the West in the sixteenth century; Chinese ritual and religiosity in the evangelization efforts of the mendicant religious orders; the quaestio de ritibus sinensibus and the position of the Franciscan missionaries in  China.
