January 15 and 16 of this year, we held our annual Celebration of the Pontifical University Antonianum and its Grand Chancellor in the Auditorium Antonianum
. The theme of this year’s celebration was “Custody in the Logic of Gift: A Franciscan Perspective.”
The event on Wednesday, January 15 was moderated by Friar Vidal Rodriguez Lopez, General Secretary for Formation and Studies of the Order of Friars Minor. The day was comprised of three lectures by our professors: Prof. Marco Nobile, addressed “The Biblical Basis of Custody,” Prof. José Antonio Merino, reflected on “Environmental Ethics and Franciscan Proposal,” Prof. Jorge Horta, Dean of the Canon Law Faculty of the Pontifical University Antonianum
spoke on, “Custody: Mission to Service of One’s Brother. A Canonical Profile”.
The event on Wednesday, January 16 was moderated by Friar Marek Wach, General Secretary of the Pontifical University Antonianum. The day was introduced by Vice Rector, Prof. Martín Carbajo Núñez, in his position as Acting Rector of the University. His welcoming comments were followed by the Most Rev. Card. Carlos Amigo Vallejo, who spoke on “Fraternitas Custos; Franciscan Ecology and Rights.” Afterwards the Premio San Francesco
was granted to Prof. Giuseppe Buffon for the publication of his book Sulle trace di una storia omessa: storiografia moderna e contemporanea dell’Ordine francescano.
The second day of the celebration ended as customary with concluding remarks by the Grand Chancellor of our University the General Minister of the Order of Friars Minor, Friar Michael Anthony Perry. This was followed by a performance by noted tenor Friar Alessandro Brustenghi.
