Over a hundred rectors of leading European universities gathered in Helsinki from April 2 to 5 , 2014, for a conference convened by the EUNIS
, to promote the use of new technologies for university level pedagogy. The Conference of Rectors of the Pontifical Universities of Rome ( CRUPR ) was represented by our acting Rector, Prof. Martín Carbajo Núñez , OFM . Various topics were discussed, however special attention was given to the elaboration and activation of online courses ( MOOCs
) and the problems they present. It should be noted that in recent years the adoption of this new method of teaching has accelerated at the European level and significant developments are expected that will further facilitate its developmen.
Recently, even the Pontifical University Antonianum has taken significant steps to offer online courses, such as those needed for a master's degree in Franciscanism. Many of our professors' are familiarizing themselves with this new type of teaching. In recent months, our university has been equipped with interactive whiteboards, a system for video -streaming and video surveillance, as well as a wireless network that allows professors and PUA, CISA and FGA students to have access to the central server of the Antonianum. We hope that this meeting of European Rectors give more force and stability to the efforts already begun.
